Peoples Bank Donates $1000 to Hancock County Food Pantry

The Peoples Bank recently donated $1000 to the Hancock County Food Pantry. Presenting the check to Ed Catone, Executive Director of the Hancock County Food Pantry, is Shellie Maughan (left), Bay St. Louis Branch Manager and Debora Batchelor (right), Waveland Branch Manager. The Hancock County Food Pantry is the only full time food pantry in Hancock County and provides free food to over 6000 Hancock County families every year.

The First, a National Banking Association, recently donated $500 to the Hancock County Food Pantry. Presenting the check to Ed Catone, Executive Director of the Hancock County Food Pantry, is Jessica Sekinger (left), Assistant Manager of the Bay St. Louis branch. The Hancock County Food Pantry is the only full time food pantry in Hancock County and has provided free food to over 83,000 Hancock County families since opening its doors back in 1986.

Hollywood Cast Members Donate Food to Hancock County Food Pantry

Hollywood Casino Bay St. Louis cast members recently participated in the annual drive to collect food for the Hancock County Food Pantry. Cast members generously contributed non-perishable items to stock the shelves of the pantry for the holidays.
Joe Lizana and Paul Hall loaded 279 pounds of food and 37 turkeys to be taken to the pantry. Leslie Patrick, Director of Human Resources said, “We are pleased to donate turkeys and food from our food drive to the Hancock County Food Pantry. Our cast members altruistic spirit runs high to help the citizens in our community.”

East Hancock Elementary recently held its annual food drive to benefit the Hancock County Food Pantry. Last year, East Hancock collected over 2500 items for the food pantry. This year, almost 1800 items (1,980 lbs) of food were
collected. The East Hancock Student Council sponsors and facilitates the event along with Student Council Sponsor, Susie Murray and Speech Language Pathologist, Kathryn Larsen.

Letter Carriers Food Drive Collects Almost 13,000 Pounds of Food

U.S. Postal Service letter carriers in the Bay/Waveland/Diamondhead area collected almost 13,000 pounds of food on the second Saturday in May to help restock the Hancock County Food Pantry. This local food drive is part of a nation wide “Stamp Out Hunger” effort by the National Association of Letter Carriers every year on Mother’s Day weekend. Letter carriers collect non-perishable food put out by residents as they deliver mail along their postal routes. Pictured are Food Pantry volunteers John Paul Jones (kneeling) and left to right are Gary Sheets, Reid Walker, Bob Delcuze, John Price and Frank Manchester who helped load, transport and unload all of the collected food. Executive Director Ed Catone said the Letter Carriers Food Drive is the largest single food drive to benefit the Hancock County Food Pantry and the food collected will supplement regular food pantry supplies for many months.

Stennis Rotary Gives Tournament Proceeds to Hancock Food Pantry

Members of the Rotary Club of Stennis Space Center recently visited Hancock County Food Pantry where they were given the grand tour by Director Ed Catone. The Rotarians also presented the Food Pantry with a check for $2,000, part of the proceeds from the Stennis Rotary's 10th Annual Golf Tournament.
